I was recently driving my 2005 f150 in town and noticed it started driving roughly pulling hard shaking and such. And also smelled burning rubber and saw smoke coming from my hoodhood. I pulled over and called a mechanic, I told him about the problems I was having he havingasked if my ac was on and u said yes. He asked me to turn it off and I did and the problem stopped everything was fine (except no air conditioner) my defrost still runs good with no problems he then told me it was my ac compressor and I'll have to get it replaced . what I'm wondering is, is it my ac compressor or just a piece of it I need to have fixed anything will help. 2005 f150 2wd 4.6L triton

 

Mine seized so I replaced the whole assembly. I don't think you can change just a piece of it but I didn't even consider this. I bought it off eBay.
