Default ABS Light

2002 F150 FX4, 230K miles. The light has been on for about 3k miles. I just got done replacing the sensor in the rear diff and that didn't fix the problem. Any ideas what to check next?

Have you considered getting someone to read the ABS codes for you?

What was wrong with the original? What test did it fail? Did the replacement pass the same test?

What made you think it would?

After reading all this stuff about it I thought for sure it was the rear sensor. Guess next up is getting someone to read the codes

Always start by reading the DTC memory and you'll prevent replacing the wrong parts. Invest that money in a DTC scan tool instead of the parts that are not damaged and you will earn back the money pretty fast!

Reading DTCs causes many people to replace the wrong parts, because they don't understand (or don't put the effort into understanding) what the code definitions actually say. Codes do NOT mean to blindly replace any part mentioned in the code definition - they only indicate in which CIRCUIT diagnosis might begin. But it's always critical to DO the diagnosis - don't just run out & buy parts.
