Default ABS Help Request

Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.

2003, F150, 4X4 5.4, Auto, Off Road + Tow Package.

Brakes work well at speed but when stopping ABS engages on front left wheel when the speed gets down to 3 or 4 mph. It only trigggers at very low speed and only on the front left wheel. No ABS or fault lights are illuminated.

If I unplug the left front ABS sensor wire at the connector up near the frame rail the brakes work great but I have disabled the ABS and caused the ABS light to light on the dash.

My question is where is the fault?

Is it a sensor problem? Axle problem?

Someone told me there is a ring on the axle that can crack is this true?

Any help greatly appreciated - thanks! jd
