Default 6R80 Is Dead

My 6r80 in my 2017 2.7 **** the bed last night. The truck only has 52k miles on it. Bought it used with 51k but oh well I need to make it right.

I am located in Charleston, SC. Do you guys have any suggestions on rebuild vs replacement and who to take it to?

Oh boy. Could be the clutch packs or solenoids that **** the bed, which would be an expensive repair.

I changed the fluid and filter in it two weeks ago because I was experiencing torque converter shudder. I haven’t had any shudder since then but when I changed the fluid the magnets had slurry and metal on them. The fluid was also extremely dark.

magnet looks normal. dark fluid is not necessarily a problem mercon lv darkens quickly. the problem is likely a solenoid/valvebody issue. it could also be more serious but thats the less likely situation.

Default Other thoughts on shudder

Are you positive the shudder is coming from the transmission? As mentioned before your fluid is dirty but normal, the magnet is doing exactly what it's designed to do by catching component breakdown,, instead of it being cycled continously thru the unit,, the magnet acts as another filter in a sense so all is well there.. I've noticed shudder as well but thru further troubleshooting it was from my rear differential. I would suggest servicing your rear differential or pulling the fill plug out and stick a popsicle stick in there and check your fluid. Make sure to use anti chatter additive if your differential calls for it, I always use it anyway because it can't hurt. Although service manuals call for certain mileage that would be under consistent operating conditions which never happens in real life. Also check your driveshaft u joints. Just trying to help out hope some of this makes sense
