Default 2018 5.0 engine and trans issues

I am sure there are plenty of posts like mine but thought I would ask anyway. Back on Dec 31st I bought a 2018 F150 5.0 V8 10 speed trans with 73000 on it and have had bad knocking and pinging. I did find that it was burning excessive oil and found a TSB for oil consumption. I brought it to my local Ford dealer and they did a software update and oil change. That was about 2000 miles ago and my oil again is now very low. Any answers to what this could be? I know the spec calls for 5W-20 oil but could that be the culprit of it being to thin? The truck sounds like a diesel when I am driving probably because it is low on oil. Another issue I have is that when I start it first thing in the morning and drive the trans seems to struggle or slip getting into gear. It gets better as the day goes on. I do notice that going from 6th or 5th down to 4th gear, it shifts hard and seems to jump or hop. Has anyone had this issue?

if your engine is "consuming oil" you should be monitoring it very close... like every 1/2 tank of fuel.
Aint no way I would chance letting get out of the range on the dipstick. I would also do a fresh oil/filter change with a heavier weight to see if anything changes.
I guarantee it will be cheaper than having a dealer do anything.

Yes I'm going through it. I have a 19 I also had bad knock and ping with 87 octane gas but none at octane over 90. You can follow my thread if you want it might have some answers for you.

Basically found out I had oil consumption, and it was bad. Burned two quarts in 700 miles. They are replacing my heads soon under warranty. Hope that fixes it.

Good luck with yours.

My local dealer has me doing a 1000 mile test since I added oil. The service manager did tell me they had an 18 in their shop for same exact same thing and had it in there for a couple weeks. So that does not sound good to me.

They did same exact with me. Said return between 500 and 1000 miles. I went in at 700.

They put dye in it to see if they could find out where it was going. Had my truck 4 days and I think they found it. They ordered new heads for mine. Replaced under warranty so we'll see how this goes. Do you have extended warranty?
Good luck keep us updated.
