2013 backup camera intermiddent
Hi,
2013 and about 3 months ago I noticed my backup camera was getting foggy when viewed on the rear view mirror We had a lot of rain for several days. Problem is it never went away now the camera is kinda intermittent.
How do I get at the camera? there is a big panel on the inside of the tailgate that might be the access point but not sure.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

The panel on the inside of the tailgate is the access panel to the latch mechanism and the wiring for the camera. You can take it off and see if you notice anything out of order.

Possibly oxidation on pins in a wiring harness connection is the problem. There are several to exercise, (unplug/reconnect several times) to scrape possible oxidation layer away.
My ‘11 has one plug on the driver side frame behind the spare tire. There is another for removing the tailgate, and most problematic the connection at the camera inside the tailgate emblem. That one requires removal of mounting screws accessed by prying off the blue oval. Prying off the oval will break it’s plastic attachments requiring replacement of the oval, or adhesive to glue it back on. Sand the chrome plating where adhesive is placed to get a good bond. A clear marine RTV works.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.
