2012 Ford Throttle Body Sensor replacement issues
Been getting the wrench light on my 2012 F-150 for some time. I'd shut it down, re-start and go 'till it happened again. Finally got around to replacing the Throttle body. After doing some internet research, talking to the folks at AutoZone and consulting a code reader: concluded the likely issue was the throttle body sensor was bad. The codes I was getting because of the issue, matched up with the issues many others were having. So I replaced the throttle body. I put on a remanufactured Cardone throttle body, got from RockAuto. I did NOT replace the wiring that clips into the sensor.
Quick fix (20 minutes) to swap out. The code was gone. I allowed a few minutes for the vehicle to re-learn idle, drove it a few miles out and back, no issues. My son takes the vehicle, drives about 5 miles down the road and it wrench comes up and it goes into limp mode.
He limped it home.
I checked it out the next morning, same issue (limp mode) and code reader stated I had a throttle actuator stuck open. Hmmm.... Most error codes are usually closed, right? This one says stuck open. EDIT: the codes are the same P1112 and P1111. Same issues as before I replaced the part.
I found a Ford video, recommending NOT using a remanufactured Cardone TBS, because it is a downgrade from the one I replaced. The guy in the video said the customer who swapped out the parts had the same issues months down the road. Of course, my issues repeated almost immediately. So I need some help/input.
My initial thought it the wiring needs to be replaced. Again, I didn't see any apparent issues, but to be on the safe side, I'm thinking the wiring should be replaced.
Should I return the Cardone TBS and spend the money for an upgraded TBS (these are kinda pricey)? What's the likely hood the part is faulty? Unlikely IMO... but what do I know? Any input on the best way to fix this issue and move on would be appreciated.
Nobody stocks these parts, so my truck has been down for more than week and it looks like it might be another week to get the parts (wiring) to get this fixed.
