Default 2012 ecoboost transmission problems

I have a 2012 FX4 with the tow package. When a towing a load at highway speed, pull out to pass a vehicle and step on the gas, the engine revs up but speed decreases. It doesn't really feel like the tranny is slipping, it just doesn't respond. Is this a tranny problem? Any ideas/ suggestions?

It may be you have picked up some moisture/condensation in the CAC. If it didn't throw a code ford will probably do nothing. It may evap all by itself on a few dry days of driving around. Also you may just be in the tow package torque convertor area. Did it actually downshift to 4th or 3rd gear. Mine shifts down going down a slight hill sometimes.

It seams to happen most when passing on flat roads. Normally you get sucked into the seat when passing, but there was none of that. Not a heavy trailer either... Only about 3000 lbs. The truck shifts down, but no acceleration. Could be the moisture thing you mentioned as it was raining the first time it did it. Thanks.

If you want I can find you the national map of Dew points. You can navigate back to the day and your area and see what the dew point was and your temp. Info is if you are within 5 degrees of the dew point and driving steady speeds you may experience the condensation/lag/cel/have to pull over and shut down syndromes. Any or all of them. It won't hurt to let us know your findings.

In order to determine if condensation in the intercooler affects “you” then the best source is to follow this map in the time frames it has occurred to you. When you watch the outside temperature reading on the dash, compared with the dew point map you will “know” every time when your engine is making too much water for it to handle – every time – no exceptions.

You will be able to click on the map, blow it up, and run it backwards in time. It is very accurate.

If you watch this map over a period of days, weeks, months, and year; the worse place to be in North America with an EcoBoost is South East Texas (Houston). Sometimes this type of weather pattern can occur up to the central USA (Kansas and sometimes Canada), and east over to the Mississippi valley areas (Tennessee, etc). Also to a lesser degree New England are and sometimes southern Florida/Georgia.

Best way to help negate this is to run the motor up thru the gears more often. Next time pull into a station, pop the air filter and look under it to see if water is standing in the air filter box also. Thought is, rain drops/spray is pulled in the gotts mod following a semi like crazy. LOL
