Default 2011 Transmission Issue

I recently purchased a 2011 F-150 EcoBoost with roughly 20,000 miles. The truck was purchased Certified Pre-Owned.

I've just noticed that the truck skips 2nd gear when downshifting. It will drop from 3rd straight to first. I noticed this because the truck would shudder a bit, as the RPMs picked up higher than I'm used to with an automatic. Then I began watching the electronic dial, and noticed that it never downshifts into 2nd...the truck just skips from 3rd straight to 1st.

On the other hand, it shifts from 1st to 2nd perfectly when accelerating. It is only on the downshift that this is a problem.

Thoughts? Is this something that I should look into immediately? I assume that it will be covered by the powertrain warranty. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks!

Contact your dealer. I believe there is a transmission (tcm) reflash to correct the problem.

Thanks. Has this been a common problem?

It was a problem early on with shift point tuning. The TSB will fix it.

My '12 EB does the same thing - it really doesn't bother me though.
