2006 F-150 5.4L 3V Rough Idle - thrown too many parts at it with no results! HELP!!!
So I have a 2006 F-150 5.4L 3V with roughly 143,000 miles. I have a really rough idle. It is stuck in Force Idle. I have replaced the Throttle Body, PCM, Fuel Filter, VTC Selonoids, O2 sensors both upstream and downstream, I have checked for vacuum leaks and low fuel pressure as well as checked the MAF sensor and it is working properly. My current codes are: P0171, P2196 P2104. I have attached the live data. I really need this truck to run as my daily driver now needs a transmission! Not sure what else I can do. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!

stop replacing parts. you are wasting money. there is nothing that is going to make me believe that all those parts needed replaced. i have attached a link to a website that will give you information on those codes. go to the search bar on the site and type in the code and it will give you info on it.

Not going to debate that however I have looked at all the codes and exhausted my knowledge and several certified mechanics as well which is why I am reaching out.

You will likely hear this a lot, but seeing that you've seemed to replace every other part that tends to cause this issue, you may be facing down the barrel of the dreaded 3 valve cam phasers. It's a very common issue for that engine and can cause exactly what you are describing. Unfortunately to confirm, there isn't an overly easy method for someone not really familiar with the 5.4L 3v. Your best bet would be to take it to a Ford dealer or a mechanic with experience with that particular beast of an engine. If it is the phasers, they will need replaced and it's generally not cheap. Largely due to the labor involved in replacing them.
