2005 f-150 jerking between 40-55 mph
I have a 2005 f-150 that is jerking bad between 40-55 mph. If you accelerate and get the rpm's up or put in overdrive it stops. We have replaced the coil packs and a few of the spark plugs (which are a pain in the @%$ to change). Any other suggestions???

Sounds like ya need to change all spark plugs and then if it continues have it hooked up and find what cylinder is misfiring. Have seen it before where people have put brand new coils on and one or two have been junk being brand new. I have had trucks with the same problem and acted the same way and by changing all plugs and whatever coils where bad fixed it. If that's not it check out your fuel pump driver module under the spare tire.

I am currently having the same problem with my 2007 5.4L V8. Another issue I'm having is when I sharply turn the steering wheel (just after switching from R to D), the RPMs drop quickly. It's strange.
I travel 100 miles round trip to work everyday and have long stretches of hilly roads where I'll be steadily giving gas in the same 40-55 MPH range and experiencing the jerking. When I give it extra gas, there are no issues. Fuel filter was replaced recently, along with an even more recent fuel system cleaning.
Should I try the spark plug/coil approach, or is this clearly a Fuel Pump issue? Seems to me like I'm simply not getting enough fuel by applying steady gas since the problem isn't present when I give it extra gas.

I have a 07 5.4l v8 as well same issue fuel pump module changed did nothing. Sounds like you had no luck with plugs and wires which I may try next. I was told it maybe throttle and or speedometer sensors but they should show up on diagnostics which they haven't. I may also try changing transmission filter also don't know which way to go with this.

I'm having the same problem with my 05 FX4 sucks because I live on a small town in Alaska the mechanics here think its a transmission issue. I'm crossing my fingers and praying the engine coils and spark plugs solve the problem.

I'm having the same issue on my 07 F150, if I had to describe it, it feels like the overdrive is kicking in and out until there is enough of a load on it to keep it out of overdrive. If you coast down hill and start to accelerate it starts to jerk and when you give it gas it comes out of it. I would really like to get this fixed and I don't think its an engine issue either. Any inputs would be greatly appreciated.

I had the exact same symptoms with my truck this last year.
I replaced all 8 plugs, and not the problem is now gone.
Good luck on your plug change; I broke 7 out of 8 of them off. Buy the Lisle tool to remove the broken ones. A pair of long reach needle nose plier will come in handy too.
