Default 2003 Engine missing

Hi, this just started today, wondering if anyone has had this problem.

When idling, the engine will run rough, shaking the cab, and that gets real bad when driving, to the point that the check engine light flashes.

Upon exiting the truck, there is a smell of fuel that goes away quickly, and that has never happened.

It's also leaking water out of the tailpipe, which has also never happened.

No lights are showing on the dash except the check engine light.

5.4 Triton

I didn't have my OBD2 reader today, will code it tomorrow and probably pull all the plugs. That is all I'm coming up with. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

My guess plugs or coils, more than likely a coil. If the moisture out the tailpipe is clear water and not coolant that's normal, especially as the weather gets cooler. If it's coolant you'll need head gaskets, unless you would have a cracked head etc. which I would kind of doubt.

Do you remember where you used it last? Put some Mobil 1 on a rag outside the garage, and maybe it'll come back.

Thanks... Yeah. I'll pull all of them to check. I replaced the plugs about 5 years ago, so I wouldn't think that's it, it's just all I'm coming up with. I could see the coils as well. As far as the condensation, maybe I never noticed that on this truck, but mentioned it because it happened at the same time... I'm used to blown head gaskets on BMW's, had 2 do that, and they smoke like beasts when that happens, so I would assume the Ford would do the same?

Exactly! Like a Human worn shirt to a lost dog... But, I would prefer it stay where it is, so it doesn't scuff itself up. I'm gonna GPS chip it.

It ended up coding as a misfire on #8. The plug was perfect, so I replaced the coil, and it's all good.

I don't know what surprises me more, that it was just the coil, or that the code reader worked.
