Default 1990 Overdrive problem

Hey guys i was wondering if you could help me out here. I have a 1990 F-150 with the 5.0 liter engine. It is an automatic transmission so the positions i have on the shifter are 1, D, and D with a circle around it(to signify overdrive). When i drive with the shifter on the D with the circle it will go thru the gears fine until it hits overdrive and then its almost as if its in neutral and the engine revs high just as if you put your foot on the gas pedal in neutral. It will drive find on the Regular D because it does not go into overdrive. So does anyone have a clue what could be wrong with the transmission?
