I think you're far from it...Try again! If theres a (2018+) 5.0 that does not have the off throttle rattle its an anomaly!

Sounds like they didn't want to mess with the timing components. I did it on my '07 5.4, its intensive. Now, it could be the block, but I'm not aware of any bearings not being replaceable. Rod bearings for sure are, and thrust bearings are as well. You could tear down the entire engine and replace every component inside of there if you were so inclined. Where it could be a problem is if the cylinder wall is beat up, but given that it usually runs fine I would assume that your cylinders are all fine. $2-$3K for a timing job is about right, $8K is probably about standard for a new engine. I would assume timing components though.

Why? I would miss exchanges with the so many unenlightened folks on here like yourself!
Anyway...beam me up Scotty...no intelligent life forms here!

Every vehicle I've ever had I have let warm up on cold mornings, and I have gotten over 200.000 out of all of them, it won't hurt it to let it warm up.

That's my thinking also.

Thank you guys for the positive input. I am scheduled at 8am tomorrow with the dealer I purchased the truck from. They’re a little further away then my local ford garage that told me it’s shot. But they told me if I bring it in they’d get their hands dirty and give me a second opinion for FREE and do their best to work something out. Fingers crossed maybe my local guy was just lazy and didn’t want to work on it.
