06 f150 strange electrical problem
Hi folks,
I have a very strange, and highly annoying electrical issue in my 06 f150 (actually its a Lincoln mark LT but its the same truck, lol). My instrument cluster lights stopped working and with it my fan...so no heat, no air conditioning at all. The strange other parts are the symptoms that go along with it. Slow turn signals, turn signal indicators on the dash not working but hazard flashers do. Those two arrows are actually constantly on, but dim. Sometimes my gear shift lever wont engage and I have to restart the truck. Green LED lights on the odometer and temperature part work and so do the actual gauges, just no illumination. All of the air conditioner components under hood work...and I hear the actuator doors in the dash moving when I change where the air should flow. The real zinger is this....when I turn on the air conditioner power nothing happens except under the hood, but immediately behind the instrument cluster there is a constant, even ticking sound. Like a tiny metronome clicking out 4/4 time...very constant, very even.
Ive checked every fuse, and theyre all good...the ground from the fuse box to the truck body is pristine and new and clean. I would normal check blower motor and such if it was just that, but its all of the above. Has anyone else out there experienced anything even similar?
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated folks. Thanks so much for your time

this appears to me like a ground problem. remove battery cables, clean if needed. check for corrosion behind cable ends where they are soidered on clean or replace as needed. take a ohm meter and check resistance between one end of each cable and other end of the cable. Plus side goes to starter. negative go to ground on frame or body. there should be little or no resistance on ohm meter.. now take ohm meter and check all ground straps in wiring harrness to body of truck. there are several on fire wall of truck right behind the battery and along where computer is located. You may have to remove it and it's bracket taking care to remove the three harnesses, then computer then bracket if needed. handle the computer with care.take ohm meter and scratch off bolt heads and take leads from negative terminal to bolt head to check for resistance. there should be little or no resistance.remove and clean as needed.continue on through wiring harrness and check other grounds.I hope this helps.
