04-08 p0442 code question
no. the cheapest thing to do would be buy a new gas cap and clear codes. the evap monitor can take a few days to reset also. what motor do you have. the canister vent solenoid is common with this truck... do you have access to a vacuum pump and some test leads to energize solenoids?

dealer cap i hope. did you clear the light it isn't going to go off by itself. you can purchase a vacuum pump at sears they are pretty cheap. apply vacuum to the vent side of your vent valve same thing with purge valve and make sure it holds. energizing by applying power and ground should make the vacuum release. either that or it will be open and you will have to apply power and ground and see if the valve will hold vacuum then. different vehicles have these valves in different positions when the vehicle is off. i would apply about 15" or so.like i said the vent valve solenoids are common on these trucks you can pm me if you need help
