Default Top Dash Bin Wireless(Qi) Charging

Hey all,
I recently bought a F-150 and I am constantly urged to throw my phone into the top dash bin when I jump in. Which got me thinking, and after looking through the interwebs [Jk], there is only wireless charging pads in the bottom USB area and not on the top dash bin. Has anyone successfully added wireless charging to this part of their truck? I just bought the AAwireless dongle from the indegogo ( for those interested https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/ ) to remove the need to plug in the phone every time. I really do not want to have a phone mount distracting me or taking up space in the lower reaches of my truck so I'm doing what i can to make it as seamless as possible. I'm sure adding wireless charging to the dash bin is not a monumental task, but if anyone has done it or can point me in the direction that would be awesome!!

Stick this to the bottom of the tray & run some USB power to it.

Does that tray just pull out of your dash for cleaning? What's under it? My trucks' dashes don't have removable trays up there, but access below is easy through the glovebox. So I may glue one to each of them for passengers' phones.

There are two screws under the mesh panel covering the center speaker. Just has three pressure clips on the front edge after the screws have been undone. Nothing a trim tool can't handle.
But there is a module installed under the tray for the trailer backup (it's trailer related at least) if you have it equipped. May get in the way of what you suggested.

I do have the Trailer Tow Package so this is the kinda answer that i was hoping for. I would hate to jack up everything within the first month of owning and create more problems for something thats all in all $120 tops to build/fabricate. Thanks

I'm not 100% positive what trailer add-on it's related to. All I know is I have it. Would take you 3 minutes with a 7mm and a trim tool to verify if it's there.

Did you see the size of the transmitter that must sit under the tray? Not sure that would fit, and it complicates the install.

I'd suggest a
rectangular flat charger for cars rectangular flat charger for cars
, use some double-sided tape to secure it to the tray, and connect it to the wires for the 12v plug. Can drill a hole just underneath the rubber pad for a reversible install.

I think it should be able to fit a charger in there with very little problem even with a trailer tow package that I also have.

Check out the video link below on how to get in there and let me know what you come up with for a charger if you get something sorted. I would love to have a wireless charger for my phone up there as well and have been too busy with work and all the crazy to work on it.

Here's a link to the autostop eliminator (which I have and think it's a very nice little piece of software)

Cheers,

A valid concern for anyone, even those in cooler climates, would be the long term negative effects on the phone due to being in the direct sun. In hot climates I think that the phone would suffer badly. And if the phone was left in full view, it might become someone else's possession. I have had GPS units shut down due to overheating caused by the sun.

I am not a believer in utilizing the top of the dash for carrying or storing anything, so I am a bit jaded on that subject. But a less conspicuous wireless charger would be something I would be interested in.
