Default Stud welder question

I was browsing looking for used tools and saw a stud welder for sale. It got me to wondering if it could be used similarly to a spot welder? Say for floor pan or other sheetmetal work. I realize it would need to be clamped and one piece drilled like for a rosette weld or whatever it is called. But would this work? My welding skills are not great, but a stud gun is pretty idiot proof.

more than likely no, stud welders are more meant for damaged sheet metal repair not replacement. I would not trust them for a 'structural' weld
