I want to be able to jack my truck up using a Hi-Lift jack on the sliders if need be. So obviously, I want it to be as strong as possible. What are your suggestions for this?

Hummm. You could do it either way. If you are going to bolt them on I would use 7/16 or 1/2 Grade 8 bolts 4 per mounting plate. But welding them on would be a lot easer. I used the factory running board mounts for my
"Nerf Bars" The bolts were 5/16 I had 10 per side. You could stand on them but I don't think I would use a jack on them. Come to think of it. If you bolt them on you are going to have to drill completely through the frame, and maybe put a plate on the other side of the frame to disburse the load.
Now welding them on just became a whole lot easier!! That being said I would make them weld on! Let me know what you decide.

This is where a 30-year welder inserts the cautions:
Welding to the frame has its benefits, but can be problematic. 1-if a careful procedure is not followed (welding to your frame), it is possible to compromise the structural integrity of the frame. 2-if repairs ever need to be made, your cutting out old welds. 3-if sliders take a good hit, they will also take the frame with it.
Bolting with Gr.8 bolts (all the way through the frame with plate washers on the back side) has many superior aspects for equipment like this.

Very True Stingray. Except I don't believe that when the rockers take a hit it will take the frame out. Almost all of the Jeep guys and Toyota guys have weld on rock sliders. There is a video on YouTube that shows a guy testing out his rock sliders by picking his vehicle up with a HiLo and dropping it from different heights on some big rocks. Why he does this is beyond me. I think it was a "Junk" Vehicle. I will try to find it...
