The "cover-mount racks" from Diamonback Covers were driving me crazy with how they were straight up, at a 90 degree from the cover. It looked like I had some building scaffolding attached to the top of my bed.
So, I chopped it all up, found the correct angle of the cab-sides and ported that over to the rack rails. Dropped it down so its just over 1.5" above the top of the cab, so it's exactly the right dimensions IMO. Tubes are 6061, so I used a 5XXX series filler as it was all basically fillet welds. I will be spraying them with Linex when I can sneak them into a larger job, but for now they will stay bare aluminum.

Looks great! I would be worried about the top of your cab if you hauling something long and you hit a bump.
