X-Plan
 
So I went to the dealer today to drive the 2.7EB and 3.5 EB back to back. I have to say I'm impressed by the 2.7.

Anyways... Literally 3 minutes after I left the lot I blew a coolant hose on my current truck (2004 Titan). If that's not a sign, then I don't know what is.

So I have X-plan pricing available. I have been reading a lot on here that people can beat the X-Plan price through negotiation. Others have said they negotiate trade-in values and such before hand then spring the 'ole X-Plan trap on the dealer. In the X-plan fine print it says you have to IMMEDIATELY tell the dealer on your FIRST visit that you are eligible. It's even bold like that and states it a few times.

On to my questions....

1. Is the X-plan pricing a good deal or not?

2. How can I get an estimate of the X-plan pricing?


I have tried edmunds, but it just lets you select a generic options package, and I tried FordPartner.com and it says X-Plan pricing is currently unavailable and talk to the dealer.

I'm looking to pull the trigger soon on a SCrew 5.5' 4x4 XLT. Most likely with the 2.7 with payload and towing package. Hopefully in Caribou.

Xplan is a deal, but not a great one. And many dealers I've seen actually do sell trucks cheaper than xplan as even their list price before negotiations even begin.
Tell them youll only buy at the invoice price minus the holdback- that's what I did and got 8 grand off the msrp

Somehow after the "build and price" thing on ford's site it says let us find it for you. It is showing me an inventory list which is showing X-Plan prices.

An example price is $46,095 MSRP including the $2000 302a discount. The Xplan is $40,217.

Sounds pretty good to me, but just to make sure I'll get rebates off of that price correct??? So say another 2 or 3 grand bringing me to #37,000-$38,000. Am I correct in this logic?

EDIT-Nevermind, the Xplan price is including the $1195 destination charge and the incentives.

I have x Plan as well and it is a crap deal. I suggest using true car, it will be lower than X plan and then you should be able to do 1-2K under true car without trying to hard. Read some of the recent threads about deals, I have a detailed explanation.

Another rule of thumb is 10-12% off MSRP plus rebates. I got 12.9% off plus rebates.

Xplan is invoice plus $100. then you get incentives off that price. Depends on dealers and area on how well you can bicker price. My best price was with xplan after i had tried to bicker a deal. I am about 2500 less then original quoted price after mentioning xplan.

My truck was $55,000 and with the xplan it was down to $48,xxx plus the 5,500 discount Ford had at the time, so it came up around 43,000. Xplan is great.

No its not, at least in the USA. I qualify for x plan. I built out my truck through the xplan site and my dealer easily beat it by giving me invoice - holdback. Like others have said, tell the dealer you will give them invoice - $500, they should do it with no problem. They are still making money. If not, try another dealer.

On big advantage for me. Xplan caps what the dealer can charge for doc fees. If I remember right it has to be 50.00, with out the cap many local dealers will charge 300.00 or more.

My salesman showed me all the different pricing levels for the truck I ordered; X-plan was about $980 over A-plan, and only about $150 more than invoice.

The thing that bugs be is it says you can't negotiate for add ons over $50. I was going to try to squeeze a bed liner or something out of the deal. I have 2 dealers about equidistant from me. Might have to try one with and one without. I'll post my findings. Probably wont be until next week. Still trying to find the right truck first. I really don't feel like waiting all summer if i order one.
