Default Wtf service guy??

I have a concern about what the service counter guy did with my truck at the dealership. I took it in for a front end noise. Sounds like a vacuum leak or somethin I couldn't really explain. Anyway, he puts it in 4h and starts driving in circles in the cement parking lot. Wth man? Anyway just felt I had to get it out there since I questioned them and they said no need to worry it won't hurt anything. "It will just bind the hubs and when you straighten out it will be fine." True?

Holy sheet! I don't have any positive contributions to your issue, but the tech's solution just doesn't sound right. Good luck.

Yeah I guess he didn't know what was wrong so he thought he would break something to fix.

I had a noise (heat shield on driveshaft), and they couldn't find it. I thought it was a vacuum issue or hub....I crawled under and found it fairly easily with the phone light.

He was checking to see if it went in 4h. That was actually a pretty efficient way to test the vacuum system to the IWEs. And no, a couple circles in a parking lot won't hurt your truck. Think of the abuse that system is designed to take over the life of the truck.

Efficient? Or lazy? I do agree no major damage should have occurred.

I guess you can call him lazy, but being a service writer and not a mechanic kind of limits the extent of his diagnostics. I still think it's efficient if the service writer can tell the tech, "yeah I tried it in the parking lot, it's not going into 4WD and you can hear a vacuum leak. "
