Default WTF Ford!

Okay it's obvious that Ford is dangling the good LED head lights above most of our heads. Don't want to have to spend $60k for the safer illumination.

I don't get it. Headlights should be legally mandated to LED or whatever is the latest tech. I can't think of any other time i've lobbied for mandating something on vehicles but this is ****ing ridiculous.

Agreed. I would be in a xlt if I could get the safety feature of the lariat. Led and 4a for example.

If all the cool safety stuff was mandatory the base price would go up 5000 dollars. Be careful what you ask for.

If all the cool stuff was mandatory what would Ford charge 65000 for?

So the article is saying that both the halogen and LED setups are poor, right?

Bikermike is correct, be careful what you wish for because base prices would increase several thousand dollars to get all the lariat+ safety features in the lesser trucks. IIHS poops on the LED headlights too, no f150 gets top safety pick+ specifically due to headlights regardless of what type are on the truck.

Did they test the led headlights with their eyes closed? Coming from HID’s and they are just as good. Add in the automatic high beams and its a no brainer.

They will come down to be standard equipment eventually, along with the safety technology features. Design changes take time. And no, the price won't jump $5,000 because of that. They simply don't cost that much. Many (most?) of the distinguishing features of the trim level are artificial, IMO. They are there to create a distinction to the higher trim level trucks which makes you want to upspend for a higher trim truck.

I remember back when headlights were glass and didn't fog over like these crap plastic lenses do now, which, IMO, is worse for safety....

Since I drive on hilly roads to work I have come to hate the "cutoff", I would love to throw a set of GE 6014's on it.
