Ouch. That is scary but the truck did its job and kept you safe.

Wow.

A little surprised they'd call that one a total loss. The new bodies must be significantly more expensive to fix.

The airbags had a lot to do with the vehicle written off. A friend of mine's 2 yo 350E Mercedes was hit on the side, and the damage looked minimal. Most of the airbags went off, which resulted in the vehicle being written off.

I agree... I mean besides the airbags going off, the bent shifter, the bent / off-center steering wheel, a couple of damaged wheels / tires @$1-2k a pop at the dealer (and likely the suspension components behind them), it's all that beer-can aluminum, right?

Yeah there was some pretty significant damage to the pillars inside the box, some of the trim inside like the center console didn't fit very well, tailgate wouldn't open, rear parking sensors

Definitely a lot more than just body panels

Wow, doesn't look like much. But I'm not a State certified 'guaranteed to make profit' company...

Way better to be written off, I wouldn't wanna drive that around any more after being "fixed" it would never feel right. Good thing you're safe at least.
I wonder if maybe you dozed off behind the wheel, I've done that before and came extremely close to doing what happened to you...scary stuff

Bad luck, glad your ok/no one was hurt.
I agree, doesnt look like a whole lot of damage, surprised they deem it wrote off.But in the end it's good for you,no one wants a repaired truck/vehicle,especially such a new truck/vehicle.

you guys who are surprised to see it being totaled need to take a better look at the interior pictures, it does look like a lot of sh*t has moved in there.

MNFX4, that reminds me of a wild night with the bosses during an internship 15 years ago... dinner, drinks, strippers, hookers and at 7am, boss is like "hey youngster, take my car back to work, would you?"... young-and-stupid me did it, fell asleep on the right lane and drifted against the front wheels of a big rig passing me... his hubcaps scratching the driver door woke me up quick...
