Well if you're looking into splicing into the cargo lamp circuit that would be the VT wire. The dome light it would be YE-GN circuit. I'm not a guru when it comes to the add on stuff but I would be concerned with putting an overload on those circuits which could do something to your bcm. ...but it might not do anything to it I honestly don't know.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but did you find the dome wire? Would you mind sharing the color and where you ended up tapping into? I assume the door sill on driver and passenger has the wires needed.

I tapped into the harness running on the driver side sill and none of the noted wires are working. I haven't tried the rear harness yet. I got sidetracked when more of my audio system components arrived and installed those before pursuing a solution to the LED's. At this point I may have the dealer run a signal wire for me and save myself the misery. I bought the truck new in August and it's due for a free oil change. If they agree to do it for half an hour of labor or less I'd happily pay it to get the job done right and be able to hide the mass of wiring under my passenger seat for good. I'll be sure to share where they tap into if I go that route.

I haven't had any luck yet. I checked the two harnesses that dead end at the dash panel under the steering wheel and the only hot leads are constant hot. Maybe it's a programming thing and the computer needs to be set to treat the door sill lights as installed.

Super sweet mod. They even dim just like the cargo light fading on and off. Btw, just put in led cargo bulbs and splice right in. Throw that relay garbage in the trash. Ground them to the body under the truck. I know there are going to be haters on that, but if you swap to leds you wont be any more loaded by tapping the cargo lights.

I took TB15XLT's advice and used the third brake light for a signal. It worked great! Here are some pictures of how it's done if anyone else wants this in their truck. The process is very straight forward and does not involve any major disassembly.
1. Hop in the bed of your truck and remove the four screws holding the third light assembly to the body. These come straight out without any fuss. Gently dangle the light straight down, making sure it's low enough for you to see the wire loom through the rear window.
2. Jump in the back seat with a small spool of primary wire. 16ga will do. Gently wedge your finger into the back of the headliner where you see the wire loom outside the window. Feed half a foot of primary wire through the gap you've created. This should end up right next to the wire loom on the outside of the truck.
3. Return to the bed of your truck. Retrieve your primary wire through the interior access hole (pictured) and pull it up to give yourself some slack.
4. There are three wires coming from the factory harness. Black is ground, white is for the white lights, and red is for the red light. Using your primary wire, tap into the white wire. Do yourself a favor and solder this one on for a secure connection. Wrap with silicon or electrical tape when it's cooled off.
5. Feed excess wire back into the interior and reassemble the third light. Make sure you torque the screws enough to compress the gasket that keeps rain water out of the hole for the light harness.
6. Return to the back seat of your truck. Tuck away your wires by gently nudging them into the headliner and back of your rear pillar. At this point you can run the wire anywhere you want. I ran mine through the door sill and up to the fuse box area where my LED relays are.
7. Enjoy.

Finding the OE footwell lights was a PITA. I have the lights and the pigtail part numbers if anyone is interested in that mod.
