I am using the AAwireless, I've had it for for about 6 months or so now and it works great! Mine is connected and displaying Android Auto within about 5 to 10 seconds of the Sync 3 radio fully booting. I have a USB cable ran to the inside of my console and keep it in there. This was the first place to offer one.

Default Ottocast Dongle in a 2018 Lariat Sync 3

I just got my Ottocast dongle from Ottocast (via Indiegogo).

I have a few thoughts on it I'd like to share for anyone who gets tempted to order it. Of note, I did my Sync 3 update a few months ago, and my AA via cable works good. Reliable. No known issues.

So this thing costs about $100. About the size of a pack of US cigarettes. Thinner actually. Fits good in that cubby below the dash where you plug it into USB-A.

The claim to fame of this device is I believe it's the first one of these things that support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. I bought it for the AA, and it sort of feels like it "prioritizes" CarPlay.

I got it to work ok. Had some difficulty as the cable supplied was crap, but once beyond that, it has worked. But in order to get it to work, I have to have CarPlay enabled in my head unit. It brings you to a sort of homescreen that is AA but has a button you can double tap to swing it to CarPlay. It shows that screen for 10 seconds or so and then causes my phone to launch AA.

On a fresh start, by AA it is probably working in 30 seconds with my phone in my pocket. I find that reasonable. I like to be able to plug my phone into the Adapter Plug I have in the center console that supports a more powerful PD charge, much faster. This lets me do this as required.

But a couple of quirks. And I may be able to change some settings to get around this. And the device is updatable. I have to figure that part out, as the instructions are written by someone who did not have English as a first, second, third , or fourth language. There may be updates forthcoming to improve things.

1) today when driving with Waze on the screen, but my FM music on the radio playing, I couldn't change the volume. When I would rotate the volume ****, my screen would display "prompt volume". So it was confused as to what volume it's being told to increase/decrease.

2) it really wants to resume playing a podcast or spotify, over the FM radio I last had on. Today I had the radio turned off, and nothing playing. But all of a sudden a podcast would start up. And it's hard within AA to get it back to the radio when you are in Pocketcast, or Spotify. In my AA settings, I have "Automatically Resume Media" set to "on".

Anyways, I am ok with it. Probably would have bought the Motorola one coming soon if I had known before I had committed to the IGG campaign. But I'm happy mostly.

Feel free to ask questions if you like.

J.
