Default Wiper Failure

New to the Forum but have been a long time stalker of the build section. Finally bought my truck a few months back and now my wipers stop working if you turn them on past the first setting. Even on the lowest setting they will get stuck. Should I replace the wiper stalk or motor? Local dealer cant get me in for 2 weeks. Looking for any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

Define "get stuck".

The wipers will just stop moving. I can only get them to move again if I mist the windshield.

You sure it’s not the auto wiper doing what it’s supposed to do? What happens if you turn the stalk all the way?

I had a Ford Technician observe them and he stated it would be one of 3 things, the Wiper motor, the wiper stalk, or the clock-spring. I had another technician state that the clock-spring is least likely to be the issue. I ordered parts and now the wait begins.

As you say they work if you push the washer button but not if turned on to max seems to point to the stalk.

That's what I am hoping since its a cheaper part and simple to replace. Thanks!

Yep, the stalk is a common failure item, across multiple manufacturers.
