Windshield replacement?
Was on the interstate today where a rock found it's way to my windshield. Now I'm left with a two foot and growing crack right right in my line of vision.
Anyone have a windshield replacement done yet? Did you get an OEM replacement from the dealer or did you settle for something else? Insurance cover it or did you pay out of pocket?
Not sure the direction to handle this yet with my Geico insurance. I have a $50 deductible but don't want a cheap windshield to replace it. Also wonder if there is anything unique about our factory windshields that may be over looked during a replacement?
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Had to get mine replaced last week. My neighbor actually does the windshield installs for my dealer, so I had him do it at his house. He tells me that he has done a number of these already (including one for his dispatcher) and they seem to crack pretty easily after getting a stone chip. Mine caught a rock below the wiper on a Sunday and then split on my way home from work Monday. He tells me that the windshields with the rain sensor and camera connections are on national back order right now. Fortunately, he had one in stock that he was able to install in my truck. I added the 'no deductible for glass' coverage to my policy AFTER this happened because it sounds like this might not be my last windshield.
Mine has been hit two times by what I deem Minor stones as Calgary is the windshield capital of Canada I have gone through a few. I find these new ones are like light bulb glass, they chip and crack from next to nothing of a stone.
