Default Window auto up function occasionally stops and retracts

2016 Standard Cab XL

I have an ongoing issue where my windows will occasionally stop and retract when they're closing during the auto-up function (when you hard-press the switch to get it to roll all the way back up automatically). It's the same action you see if something is preventing the window from closing, like if your arm was in the way, for example. The amount it closes before stopping and retracting varies, and it happens to both driver and passenger sides. The dealer has "re-initialized the auto-up feature" twice and it hasn't fixed the problem. Has anyone seen this?

Are you stopped when this happens? The sensor is fairly sensitive and if driving down a bumpy/rough road it can be enough jostling to have the windows retract.

I don't recall if it has happened when stopped or not. It often happens on smooth highways and when driving slowly, however.

Mine does this all the time also. I've tried the re-initialize with no luck.

same here, putting up the windows while on bumpy roads can be a real challenge

Are you doing it when the window is only down about an inch?

Mine will sometimes retract if I Auto-Up when it's only down an inch or less.

If it's down more than that it will go up normally.

I think in my case it's a safety feature in case someone has their fingers out the window since there wouldn't be enough time to pull them out.

Can you reset it? I've read about bringing up the window all the way without auto up and holding (the switch) for 15 sec or so to help it reset. Don't know if this actually is a fix or just urban legend.

Thanks. I wonder if doing something to increase drag during initialization would help at all, like holding a finger against the glass to increase the force needed to close it. I don't know if that's something that's accounted for during the initialization process.

EDIT - It looks like re-initializing is only training the end points. Closing force can't be adjusted. Looks like there's nothing I can do.

Two things I can think of: 1) possibility that your window tracks aren't in line and causing binding; and 2) try using a spray wax or silicone spray to lubricate your window tracks to help the window slide more freely.
