That saying was coined before we had turbo technology like we do now. But yeah, the sound, can’t argue with that one.

OK, I'll be the naysayer here. I don't want to hear any sound at all from my engine. When they finally go all-electric with range, I'm there.

I likely won't be towing anything so that's not an issue. I Just like a powerful truck.

What do you think in terms of long term reliability and costs? Is the new 5.0 still definitely the way to go, or is the difference now not that significant?

Initial cost difference is a non-issue for me.

Any other considerations, or thoughts please feel free...

It’s a pretty novel idea to start a conversation on here about 3.5EB vs 5.0. You might have to dig for it, because I think we’ve only had the one V8 vs V6 discussion, but the winner was clear. It was a great conversation, with everyone sticking to the facts, no opinion or fan-boy comments. Good luck, be sure to link it when you find it. Like I said, it’s only been tried once, so it should be pretty easy to find.

Thanks very much for everyone's feedback. Think I am going to stick with getting the 5.0.

There is a new service bulletin to address the minor issues with the 5.0 so when mine is built that will be resolved.

I also love the sound of the 5.0 and it seems the 2018's are a lot more powerful than previous ones. According to this video below there's a HUGE difference in power in the new 5.0:

FFWD to 5:18

Here is the build I am doing right here:

Thanks again for all the feedback, I read all the comments and it definitely helped

Looks like a great build. The only suggestion would be to add the 36 gallon fuel tank. I've had them both and the 36 gallon really is a great upgrade especially when you are traveling.

If you do any travelling, listen to nampa45....especially since you will be ordering the truck. Mine came with the larger fuel tank and it's a huge plus in my book. The 36 gallon tank allows you to not worry when you get caught up in traffic...it also allows more flexibility when selecting gas stations or being able to make pit stops that are not just gas stations. Also, you won't need to fill up as often, which is nicer in the winter.

No matter what advice you get on this forum, go out and drive both. DO NOT decide on an engine choice until you actually drive both. Back to back if you can. Only you can make this decision. There is not a right choice, both are exceptional engines.
