Will I regret having a moon roof?
I want a platinum trim without moon roof but the dealer couldn't find one because they all come with moon roof, they would have to order it for me.
Plus I can get a better discount with a platinum that has a roof than the one without, however I worry that it will get noticeably hotter in the summer, especially we get a lot of 100F degree days in the summer a lot. I am also worry about the rattling issue that I'm hearing, how widespread is that?

The are hotter and have been prone to leakage. I'm thinking some kind of tint would be a must. I didn't give up hope and finally found my truck equipped like I wanted without the moonroof.

I've never had a problem with one. They do make the cab a little hotter but I keep the shade closed in the summer. When I get in on a hot day I open the glass before I do anything else. Hot air rises, heat problem fixed.

Bought a 2017 Lariat with everything above and it has the pano roof. Test drive it in advance and do a leak test if you want. The salesman commented that I was "a little picky", gap checked every square inch of that truck and pushed and prodded that moonroof to death. Purchased extended warranty btb for 6 years/75K.
The truck right now (including the roof) is tight as a drum and rattle/noise/leak free, May 2017 build. I use the roof everyday and love it. We are in Houston and the heat is not bad at all. Going for ceramic tint soon.
I loved my moonroof on my 2013 Lariat, used it constantly. I am as **** and detail oriented as they come so I will let you know. lol

I considered this very question when shopping for my truck. I have had the Moon Roof on several of my past vehicles, including the Explorer that my truck replaced. In the case of the Explorer, I kept the shade closed 90% of the time. It really is a personal choice, some people use them all the time - others not so much.

Absolutely love mine, makes cab feel even bigger than it already is when shade is open. I just close shade on hot days when parked to keep heat out. This moon roof is 1st thing everyone mentions when looking at truck.

I have had them in past F150's and found that I rarely used them. A few times a year at night was about it. When I was shopping to replace my 2013 I was not a fan of all that glass over my head in the event of an accident let alone the compromise in structural integrity with that much metal removed from the roof to accommodate all that glass. Every time I see a sunroof leaking thread, (and there are ALOT of them) I am glad I decided against it.

no rattles or leaks here. like already said i keep the shade closed if it's real hot. when spring and those nice fall days come around, you'll be real glad you have it.
