Default why no quadra-steer?

I was just wondering why for did not incorporate a 4 wheel steer system for the crew cab long bed. I find it would be very beneficial for city driving

They were a useful, clever, albeit complicated system that GM discontinued. Mainly, if memory serves, because it was an expensive option that many off the showroom buyers were not willing to justify the price of.
Ive read a lot of rave reviews of Quadrasteer equipped trucks but at..what $5000.00 or so was it? I don't think it flew off the shelves.
I'm sure Ford looks closely at market successes as well as failures and likely doesn't think development of a system like the Delphi makes fiscal sense.

I know Delphi went bankrupt. But they can probably design their own or buy the tech from Honda lol

Quadra-steer was a good idea on paper but once implemeted had various issues dependant on climate and corrosion factors. It was mostly helpful for people towing and trying to back trailers in tight spots, decreasing turning radius by ~%20

Also finding parts for quadra-steer equipped trucks is even harder, if you have actually driven one its cool the first few times...til the back gets stuck turning and you feel the tires drag lol

Pretty much the same reason why nobody else uses it. Reduced capability, obscene repair costs.

My old boss was a diehard Chevy fan and bought a Quadrasteer truck when they came out. After 3-4 sets of tires in the first 36,000 miles and a few trips to the dealer he STILL acted like it was the greatest thing ever. Made me want to vomit, haha.

Funny that he usually keeps trucks a long time and that one was traded in a year and a half when the warranty expired. He was disappointed they quit making them he said. I bet.

I didn't know people had such issues with them. I just see some 4x4 rock crawlers and stuff with these hydrolic 4 wheel steer systems and thought it can be used in a long wheel base pickup. Would def make parking laterally and u-turns a lot better.

My dad has a 2003 GMC Suburban 2500 with the quadresteer and bought it brand new. Pulls a large boat with it and hasn't had any major problems with it. He had a whining noise once from the rear end but it was fixed by GM and I think all they did was grease some key parts. I like it because you can turn on a dime. Works great in tight parking spots.

A solution in search of a problem to solve.
