Default Why no engine compartment light!

Have a 2017 Lariet. You would think they would put a light under the hood... Does the Platinum, Limited, King Ranch or Raptor have one or is it a part that can be ordered?

I haven't seen one of those in years. None in my Grand Cherokee Summit or CLK 320

Nope, haven't had them since the 2004 heritage edition.

I would assume there's really not much under the hood anymore that you could fix yourself in the event of a breakdown and most people have some kind of roadside assistance plan. Any maintenance done under the hood would be done at a dealership or at home, where you could get a work light or LED light out of your toolbox.

I have been in circumstances where a light under the hood would have been nice. They put 1500-2000 LED lights on the truck but not a cheap bulb for under the hood? Kinda lame...

I feel lucky to have the gas lifts on my KR hood. I have a $42,000 Mustang GT that came with a cheap azz prop rod.

Can't remember my last vehicle with an underhood light.

On the cars that I had with a light under the hood, never really provided enough light nor wherever you needed it. With all the black in there, the light just gets soaked up. That is why I have a light that I can put on my head that always shines the light where I am looking.

Just throw an LED flashlight in the cargo cubby in the backseat.... keep the batteries out so they don't die or corrode and pull it out when you absolutely need it.

My last car that had an under hood light was a 1967 Olds Toronado and it was useless.
