Why lift a 2wd
#41
It wasn't me
I don't own a truck, yet. But I'd prefer the 2wd, as I would never use the 4wd. I mean, I'd take a 4wd, no problem. But less moving parts, less issues, less weight, less complications, etc etc. I mean, obviously, nothing against 4wd trucks... just personally, it's not a necessity for me.
And if I get a 2wd or 4wd, I'm lifting it! This may not apply to you, in your region. But in Houston, it floods. I was stuck and flooded during Hurricane Harvey, and we are still displaced. Had I had a lifted truck, we could have left before the water got too high. I want the looks and assurance, especially since my area floods. And moving isn't an option right now, as we lost much of our resale value, due to the flood. Trust me, we've discussed it, just not feasible.

18-20" of wet heavy snow. RWD, lifted, DuraTracs, LSD. The 4X4 sat in the barn, this one went out on the trashed roads.

I have a 2wd and have aggressive tires on my F150. Its not lifted at all. I did this for several reasons. I tow a boat and sometimes the launch ramp can be a little slippery so these tires give me a little more grip. Some places the launch area is dirt, rocks, sand, or mud. Mi sis in laws cabin that we visit often has a two mile driveway that is so rutty with foot deap ruts that for some they would want a 4x4 to drive in. Not me 2wd is plenty. I have never gone somewhere were I would need a 4x4 even in snow. I had a mini blazer with 4 wheel drive. I used it once just to say I used it. Nope no 4x4 for me. My first vehicle was a F100 2wd up at Fairchild AFB Spokane Wa. First winter there was a bad one but never used chains.
For those that think the Moose Bar or Bull bar is a bit much. When I fish Im out in the wee hours of the morning. We have a ton of deer around our lakes and I have almost hit a bunch of them. Had a friend die from avoiding a deer and went down a bank breaking his neck in his truck while towing a boat. The fogs arnt enough. I light up the planet with these lights and see deer and other critters.
Poser? Ha!

It's for the same reason people lift their 4x4 trucks. 4x4 trucks don't need a lift either, they just like the look and the added benefits of more ground clearance. Same with 2WD it's because the person likes the look and the added ground clearance. I've taken my lifted 2WD on dirt roads and mud holes before, since I have mud tires it did just find. I've had 4x4 trucks before and really only needed the 4x4 at the beach in the soft sand. I've also got thru that soft sand in my 2WD. Also, visibility while driving in traffic is greatly increased as well as the ground clearance driving thru flooded roads.

Not accusing you, but it seems everytime I've been asked that, it was with a snooty sneer on the "persons" face. Ya, I'm less of a person I guess, in their narrow little mind. I got something similar from a local dirt bag looking over my 150. Never saw the puke in my life before, his words, "Only an idiot would buy a 2 wheeldrive". It's a 4X4, but the 4times4 stickers removed, and lowered.
Some peoples sperm cells shouldn't win.
Glad you're not one of them.

Moral of the story, don't worry about what others do.
