Why has Ford taken such a big step backwards?
I bought a 2012 F150 new back in 2012, and I've got 120K miles on it now. So I'm very familiar with the truck. And I've had an opportunity to rent a few F150's when I travel and consistently I'm very disappointed with what Ford has done with the model revision. Things that they have made worse:
On the SuperCrew cabs, the dash is really deep , so there is less room for the driver and there seems to be 6" less floor room in the back as well. Where did all the space go?
The driver and front passenger seats are much shorter in the lower leg section, they feel like I'm sitting on a stool rather than the comfy sofa seat in my 2012.
Lastly, and maybe most surprisingly, the drivers door in the truck I'm driving right now peels open above the window at freeway speed. When I lean my head over I can see daylight between the window frame and the body of the truck up there. how can there be that much flex in the metal door frame?
It's sad to see Ford and their top selling pickup losing ground to Chevy and Toyota. Maybe they get it right next time around, but I'm certainly not going to be selling my 2012 any time soon, not with new trucks being a clear step backwards.
Oh, last gripe, the little eco-boost in this truck seems nearly as powerful as my 3.5 liter, but the mileage on a freeway trip is the same! why would I ever by a little motor with less power if it's not going to get better fuel economy? Ford! You've become LAME!

1. False. Cab dimensions are larger on the 2015. Front legroom on the 2015 is 43.9" and rear legroom is 43.6". Front leg room on the 2014 is 41.4" and rear is 43.5" as per the Ford website.
2. False. The depth of the seat bottom is nearly identical.
3. An anomaly maybe? The door gaps on my 2015 are identical.

Honey Badger - you better put on your Kevlar, cuss an asp whopping headed your way, by all the folks on the forums who love their trucks! LOL
It's sad if you can lean on or push on that part of the door it flexes and you can see daylight. But you know, Ford designed the doors the way they are specifically, and they will be putting them on their new 2017 Super Duty's!
Why would you design doors which are flexible and don't seal? Figured it out, safety, so you can escape, you know, an emergency exit!
Obviously they don't think there's any problems there, kinda like the cooled seats that over heat, Ouch!

I also had a 2012 and the cab/room is much larger on my 15. Notice no difference in seats and haven't seen the air gap.

Odd. I went from an 09 to a 15 and I have the exact opposite experience.
Less wind intrusion at all speeds, I feel I have more room front and back, better fuel economy (granted I had a 5.4L and now have a 3.5L,) seats are more comfortable.
And then, virtually everything else feels like an improvement to me. There isn't a single thing in this truck that I'd like to trade with the older model.

I have a 2011 f150 Lariat and freaking love it but I'll take a new 2015 model over mine all day. I drove one and loved it. I didn't see any issues with it.
