In some states, leaving a hitch on when you don't have a trailer is illegal and can result in a citation, especially in an accident.

I welded 2x2" square steel in a large "T" I use it as a step and tie downs for my canoe when hunting. Sprayed it with black rubberized automotive undercoating/rocker panel guard. Been using for about 8 yrs, gets a little rusty but I scrap off the coating and respray! Cost about $10 bucks to make.

I ended up throwing this on for now, until I figure out what exactly I want. This sticks out far enough tho to protect the bumper I think.

I don't think there was any sarcasm implied. BTW I have the same device and believe it to be much more practical that the rubber bumper that can't be stepped on.
