There's a lot of threads on winter tires. I haven't seen one on winter wheels. I'm thinking of getting some Blizzaks for my new XLT with 17" wheels. Getting them mounted on dedicated wheels is not a necessity but getting wheels that are well suited for winter may be a good choice, But I don't know anything about choosing wheels, other than maybe by what looks cool.
I'm thinking relatively cheap and weather resistant and easy to hose out\keep clean.
Are there any particular recommendations of what (or what not) to look for?
About a week after a bought my truck in 2017 I picked up a set of 2006 F150 17" Aluminum wheels for $125 (Canadian), cleaned them up and put a coat of Plasti-dip on them. Used those for the first three winters. I never really liked the bulky centre cap on this style of wheel but they were cheaper than a new set of steel wheels).
Last winter i picked up a set of 2015+ 17" Aluminum wheels for $300 and sold the other set for what i paid for them. I like this style better and they clean up easy and look better than steel (IMO).

What's nice is they cover up the lug nuts and might keep you from having to replace rusty lug nuts after each winter. I had the same wheels on my '04 and I even tell others these would make a great rim for the spare tire with the large center bore all the way through and might not rust as quickly as the steel spare rim.

True, but I prefer the exposed lug nut look and I switched to gorilla lug nuts so its less of a concern. Those caps also didn't fit over the gorillas properly so I had to modify (the caps) to get them on. Still wasn't perfect and i ended up losing two caps last winter (which wasn't a good look lol). So i figured it was a good excuse for new wheels.

I forgot the caps need the lug nuts to be a certain shape to clip unto them, and those '04-'14 lug nuts don't fit on this generation.
When I purchased my 2019 XLT I had them throw in a set of steel 17" rims for my winters. Due to the vast amount of salt and potholes, which are more like bomb craters where I live and sometimes you can't even see them until it's too late, I really prefer steel rims just for the durability. This way I save beating up my aluminum rims, and they stay nice looking for the summer, when they are actually clean and visible. I run General Arctic Grabber LT245/75R17 (instead of the original P265/70R17) tires, as tall skinnys seem to work better in the snow and slush.
