What’s this.....?

So I bought a rear camera set up of CL today for a good price, hoping I can make it work...that’s not the question tho. My question is what is the lever attachment? It’s obviously a latch fir something but I can’t figure out what for or where it goes. Help please?

Tailgate electric lock, my guess is it in the harness so they didn't remove

Electric release for the tailgate. There is no mechanical tailgate handle. Just a button to open the tailgate using that release solenoid.

between the outer 'skin" of the tailgate and main frame of the tailgate. you need to get a "torx" socket and a 3/8" ratchet to open it up to install. check on you tube there's several videos on how to go about it.
