It's mounted just under the ledge, where the original light was mounted. The hole where I ran my wires is the same one that held the factory light. This one is significantly brighter.
Note, I stuck my phone in the console to take the picture. You can't actually see this from your seat because it is mounted right under that lip in there...you just get a lot more light in the console.
I just replaced the dim LED light in my center console to a nice brighter one. Easy switch and now it's really lit up! The light in the console pops out and you have access to the +/- wires right there. The one I bought was from Home Depot and listed as 12v AC...which works with DC. It was from the garden light section...lol.

This one is also a good choice and the LED color more closely matches the factory interior LED light color. Note, the 'brass' part of this is just a cover and does not need to be installed.
