Coming out of a 2005 F-250 with the anemic 5.4 I was tired of a truck needing to downshift every time you breathe on the gas pedal or a little gust of headwind.
I love the low end torque of the 3.5 Eco as it can pull 6th gear up steep grades without effort while getting 21+ mpg.
Also I only buy a truck once a decade so I didn't want to leave anything on the table.

Chose the 5.0 because I didn't want to have to figure out how to make the radio stop making the V8 sounds to cover up the tuner car sounds coming from under the hood.

2.7 - I was going for fuel economy with little towing requirements. Test drove the 2.7 with little expectations and was blown away.

5.0 long term reliability. Ive owned many diesel trucks and a few turbo cars. You will be replacing turbos, potentially burning up engines when you start talking about a lot of hard miles. Also I want to add power some day when I'm out of warranty. I can get a lot more out of a 5.0 and still have reliability.

5.0 V8.

I thought it was the best mix of performance, sound, and reliability.

I test drove a 2016 with the 2.7 EcoBoost yesterday, and if I were to do it all over again, I'd still get the 5.0 V8.

5.0, mainly due to exhaust. I enjoy the V8 sound. The 5.0 should tow what I need if the time comes. Truck is my daily driver and my 2016 Mustang w/ 5.0 is my weekend/good weather vehicle. Nothing wrong with any engine choice if it does what you need it to.

I got the 5.0 I didn't even for one second think about the other motors.
And my reasoning behind that....it's a v8 you can't go wrong with a good ol v8. Plenty of power, sounds awesome
Always fun to drive.
