What did you do to your truck today?

Last weekend I traded in my very good condition 14 Fx4, had 78k miles and was in great shape. The new to me truck is a sport edition and while the interior was in great shape the outside, not so much. First step was remove the stripes!! With the previous owner not really taking care of the paint you could tell where they were so, paint correction time. Since it was 65 and sunny out why not spend the entire day doing paint correction.
Before removal
Can see where to decals were, did a clay bar and two stage correction
Mirror shine, still some deeper scratches I need to get more aggressive on
3/4 of the truck corrects, ran out of pads for the front end.
Sunset reflecting in a clean correct door panel.

I went through that with my Tahoe years back to get rid of baked-on cheesy pinstripes. It took two days but there's nothing like a wet look mirrored black truck!
Great job!

My wife’s new Tahoe (1,000 mi) is awful, GM should really be ashamed to have the paint look so bad. That and the dealers idea of detailing is laughable. Hers is next, I was the test subject to see how well I could do work with black. Also her Tahoe fits in the garage well enough I can do it inside when cold, just crack on the heater, tunes and go to work.

Wash at a car wash ( I was going to correct the paint anyways) then when I got home I used optimum no rinse to do rewash it, also made a detailed spray out of it and clay bar the surface. Did another wash after clay bar, then chemical guys v36 compound on the tougher scratches and the entire truck was followed up with griots complete compound. Used the porter cable 7424xp, really makes it so much easier than by hand. Since I was running out of day light the final coat was groits new ceramic spray on wax. First time using groits compound and I think I like it better than chemical guys hybrid compound.

Nice! My detail spray and clay lube is Deans detail Juice. Compounds are Meguiars 105 and 205 topped only with Meguiars Gold Class Carnauba. I havent tried any of the ceramics.

Seems like everyone was washing and detailing today. Gave mine another dry wash with Chemical Guys Waterless Car wash. My 5 year old helped with the wheels.
