I'm sure the dealer has some special technique to avoid getting oil all over at least. Another annoying thing was that oil would slow drip out of the holes of the skid plate and onto my driveway. I went to remove the skid plate to clean it but stamped markings all over it say not to remove it because the threaded clips that the mounting bolts go in are not reusable. I think next time I'll change the filter with the truck off the ramps so it doesn't cause oil to run down that plate. Lmk what you think of it.

Its "noticeable impact" on fuel mileage really depends on your F-150's original setup and any other modifications you've made. Reducing airflow under the vehicle reduces drag and helps fuel economy... but our trucks are designed to get the best possible gas mileage scores on the EPA cycles/testing and not in the actual real world (so your results may vary). General consensus I've seen is if you only remove the air dam and change nothing else, you stand to lose 1 MPG highway. That's not scientific, just what I've commonly seen repeated.
It only takes about a min to remove the air dam. Set cruise and drive 70 on the highway, checking your instant MPG. Pull over, remove the 10 screws then immediately repeat test (so temp & weather conditions are the same). That's the only way you'll have a definitive answer for your specific truck.
