Hi folks, just wondering if anyone knows what this black item is under an insert in my center console.

 

Removing the access panel provides access to the transmission brake shift interlock lever so that, in the event of a failure of the interlock, it can be manually overridden. Pages 215-217 of your Owner's Manual explains this.
