Weird sequence of error messages
I have a 2020 F150 Platinum with full tow package and 4WD, with about 15000K miles on it. Its got the 6 cyl turbo ecoboost.
Three times now, I've gotten this weird thing happen. All times were associated with switching to AWD, or being in 4WD or AWD.
AWD still works fine, but these messages pop-up, and the reduced power thing happens until I stop and restart the truck.
I stop/restart, and the messages go away.
The first time, I had just bought the truck, and I was futzing with different settings, so I thought I had done something bad.
I pulled into the Ford dealership, killed it, called over a tech, restarted it, and the error message was gone.
The second time - I was hooking up my travel trailer, switched to 4WD hi, and towing mode. I was parked in my driveway. Error messages popped up. I killed it, restarted, and they were gone.
The third and last time this happened, I was already in AWD, driving down the freeway. it started raining, which I think automatically activated something? And this triggered the issues.
I pulled over, stopped/restarted, and error messages were gone.
EDIT: Yes, the wrench/tool icon did come on. Also, I could not turn on cruise control. Also, reduced power.
All these went away with stop/restart.
I do have the error messages saved in my Ford App...very helpful in tracking. Here they are, in sequence more or less:
Powertrain Malfunction/Reduced Power
Pre-Collision Assist Not Available
Hill Descent Control Fault Warning
Restraints Indicator Lamp Warning
Hill Start Assist Warning
I'm guessing the latter ones are subsequent/dependent upon the first one.
What the heck is going on? Is this a known issue? Do I need an OBD scanner to take codes to the dealership?
Any help you could provide would be really helpful.
Thanks!
J

Did you ever find out the answer? I am having the same problem on my 2020 5.0. Same exact codes and goes into limp mode while driving highway speeds. It revs up 3x right before it goes into limp.
AAT 27 °C Ambient Air Temperature
BATT_V_INF 14.65 V Voltage at the Battery Terminals - Inferred
GENBPLUS_F No Fault High Resistance/Open In Generator, Battery or PCM Circuits
GENVDSD 14.47 V Generator Voltage Desired
VPWR 14.33 V Control Module Voltage
VREF 5.01 V Reference Voltage
Thats what Im getting from ForScan.

High Resistance / -or- Open in the Generator, or, Battery, or PCM circuit. .......................Someone has to look at it from this perspective.
.
All the rest of the circuits are detecting that issue, as would be expected. They all need the same voltage to work properly. Any part that is addressed at that time can detect the issue >by proxy< because they are affected!
Its a full computer system that has to work together or many parts detect the Voltage condition. and just report it even if they are not the cause.
.
In diagnostics, you have to think in these terms because the system will detect and dump every fault detection it sees and overwhelm you, if not understood.
Good luck.

Yes the problem was a loose wire per the Ford dealership.
It was behind the gas pedal to be specifc.
You can move the gas pedal to fit your foot - I had moved it somewhat.
They had a guy who specialized in finding loose wires etc - he found it.
