Default Waze, Mobile apps

Got the iPhone plugged in and CarPlay won't load (happens about half the time form a cold start, iPhone stays in the car plugged in), so I was playing around and found Waze in the Mobile Apps section.
I tried to get it to work but I was only able to get it to say, Waiting for Device. The phone doesn't prompt me to do anything... you guys got any ideas?

If you have iOS 12.1, there is a new security feature that disables the Lightning Port after 5 minutes of no use. You have to make sure the phone is unlocked and the main screen is on when you plug it in.
As for Waze, I just plug mine in and go, it works with no issues, but you do have to have iOS12.0 or higher and the latest Sync 3 update for it to work.

if car play won't load.. get another cable.. a preferable apple certified cable..

on mobile apps.. when it says waiting for device you have to open waze on the phone and leave it open unlike car play you can close the phone
