It Wasn't My Fault! Insurance advice??

Worst hairday ever...
Two times I've had insurance replace chrome bumpers on ford trucks with aftermarket. Both times replaced the originals that were over 5 years old and blemish free. Both replacements started rusting in a year or less.
If you can't get OEM then get a 10 year guarantee on the aftermarket, on paper.

It is THEIR insurance company, not yours. Insist on what you want. Welding is fine.

Right side OEM bumper wing, weld and paint. That is a very minor repair any reputable shop can easily handle. Replacing the bed side for that is ridiculous and your first clue that you need to consider finding a different shop.

A good shop will be able to weld and paint that until it disappears. Maybe a small ripple in the paint but who's looking?
Although aluminum is new to these trucks, it isn't a futuristic unknown mystery metal that people aren't sure how to repair! Its a pretty straight forward repair if - like most things - you find someone who knows what they are doing. Good luck.

Those bumper wings are pretty cheap from ford, I would make sure you get an OEM one.

What you want and what you are owed are two different things and very likely written into your policy fine print based off state law as previously pointed out.
In NJ, if the car model year is the same year or two years prior, you get the value of OEM parts. After that, you get the value of LKQ, or like kind quality- aka generic parts.
You can kick, scream, yell, cry, whine or sue in court, but the facts at not changing on what you are entitled to and will end up with. Hence the birth of "diminished value" claims against at fault insurance carriers.
That said, nothing stops you from telling your chosen shop to upgrade the parts to OEM, and you go out of pocket for such. But it will be on you and you were told of such in all that fine print your insurance carrier sends you at renewal time at least once a year that nobody reads.

I'd fight for the OEM ford parts, but I doubt you'll get the whole fender replaced. They will probably fix it the same way they would fix steel fenders. Insurances always go towards the cheapest repair. It's a business!
Did you get full replacement value on your truck when you insured it? I got it on mine - they guarantee full value replacement if the truck is totaled and they will pay for Ford OEM parts if I have an accident.

I had to replace the right rear chrome bumper "wing" on my '16. I bought it online from a ford dealer - don't remember which one - for $115. Replaced it myself in 1.5 hours. Push for OEM parts.
