I liked the way the ford handles and drives over the chevy and dodge. Unless the ram has the optional air suspension then I like that even better. stock to stock - but then reliability of that air system. I hear it's fine.

just curious. I do like your plan on the platinum tailgate thing.

I crunched a lot of numbers and the Superduty at this time is just not in the cards. My truck is my daily driver, and a Gas F250/350 is just too expensive to drive 640 miles a week, and while the Diesel would cost less, it would still cost more than the F150 and there is that really overly sensitive fuel system where a drop of water could destroy it. That and I got a really good deal on a special order that I could not get a new SD or even a 17 SD with the same options on. Also after checking payloads on the plats, there is plenty for my current needs. If we decide to pursue RV camping and want to upgrade to a larger trailer then I may get an older SD for a dedicated tow vehicle. I would just hate not persueing RV and be stuck with a maintenance heavy daily driver.

I have a really good feeling about this one, and if the stars align properly then it will actually cost me less than my current truck. Already have plans for it, and going to get some quotes for the wrap and clear protection on the front.

AH yeah I don't get the people that daily a F250 or such and it's not a work device. I mean the landscaper that drives his personal truck every day etc etc - sure makes perfect sense. The guy in my parking lot that drives a 250 king ranch to work everyday 34 miles one way needs to go get something else and pocket money daily.

I can't say a whole lot my Daily is a 470ish HP RWD sedan and while I get 17-18 mpg on my weekly runs - I could do alot better. One day I might start daily driving the 2.7L F150.

Interesting... Canadian Platinums appear to be available in only 4wd, only 5.0, only SuperCrew 6 1/2'. No other choices.

I don't think so.

Yes, you are correct - box length and engine are choices. However, there is no Platinum 2wd option, and the OP seemed to indicate that his would be a 2wd truck, which is what got me thinking. When I made my incorrect post, I glanced too quickly at the Platinum "build and price" pages. Thus, I stand corrected.

I'm guessing you're getting a discount with the Ceramic coating. For what I've seen as the going rate in the neighborhood of 2-3K I don't see the value. Too many other, better options to spend the money on.

Congrats on the new truck. May you have the same flawless experience I've had with mine.

you can do the ceramic coatings yourself if you are willing to put in a day of work and happen to have a random orbit buffer. which is how I would do it - but I don' tlike the creamic coats if you ever have an issue later.

They aren't perfect. So if you did get a rock chip - to fill it right and have it level you would need to tape off the area and remove any ceramic coat around it first. It's a pain.

I'd rather spend the money on a double re-clear coating of a car. I got quoted 6K for the F150. Wash, claybar - wash - 3000 grit sand - clear shot 1 - cure - clear shot 2 - cure - buff.

If I ever buy another sports car toy - I will do that instead.

Will do the ceramic coating myself, materials are under $100, not much more than a Zaino kit.

never liked zaino.

I mean it worked ok but so do other products. I ended up liking optimum products mostly because I like their spray wax. They also make opti-coat but like I said I don't use it.
