I have to ask since you had issues with your Ford in the past. Why are you sticking with Ford. why not a 250 vs the 350.
I liked the way the ford handles and drives over the chevy and dodge. Unless the ram has the optional air suspension then I like that even better. stock to stock - but then reliability of that air system. I hear it's fine. just curious. I do like your plan on the platinum tailgate thing. I have a really good feeling about this one, and if the stars align properly then it will actually cost me less than my current truck. Already have plans for it, and going to get some quotes for the wrap and clear protection on the front. |
AH yeah I don't get the people that daily a F250 or such and it's not a work device. I mean the landscaper that drives his personal truck every day etc etc - sure makes perfect sense. The guy in my parking lot that drives a 250 king ranch to work everyday 34 miles one way needs to go get something else and pocket money daily.
I can't say a whole lot my Daily is a 470ish HP RWD sedan and while I get 17-18 mpg on my weekly runs - I could do alot better. One day I might start daily driving the 2.7L F150. |

Interesting... Canadian Platinums appear to be available in only 4wd, only 5.0, only SuperCrew 6 1/2'. No other choices.

I'm guessing you're getting a discount with the Ceramic coating. For what I've seen as the going rate in the neighborhood of 2-3K I don't see the value. Too many other, better options to spend the money on.
Congrats on the new truck. May you have the same flawless experience I've had with mine. |
you can do the ceramic coatings yourself if you are willing to put in a day of work and happen to have a random orbit buffer. which is how I would do it - but I don' tlike the creamic coats if you ever have an issue later.
They aren't perfect. So if you did get a rock chip - to fill it right and have it level you would need to tape off the area and remove any ceramic coat around it first. It's a pain. I'd rather spend the money on a double re-clear coating of a car. I got quoted 6K for the F150. Wash, claybar - wash - 3000 grit sand - clear shot 1 - cure - clear shot 2 - cure - buff. If I ever buy another sports car toy - I will do that instead. |
Will do the ceramic coating myself, materials are under $100, not much more than a Zaino kit.

I mean it worked ok but so do other products. I ended up liking optimum products mostly because I like their spray wax. They also make opti-coat but like I said I don't use it. |
