VTA Mod (Video)
I did the VTA mod, and as per my usual, did a video on it. This one couldn't be simpler. To be honest, I only did this mod because I had a small credit left with Stage 3 Motorsports from a return and I thought "well, I'm not going to find anything else on their site for $20..." I figured for the price of free I would at least try it, if for no other reason than I like to tinker.
For the un-initiated, the VTA (Vent to Air) mod allows the blow off valve to vent the release of pressurized air to the atmosphere, instead of it being recycled into the intake. This produced more prominent turbo noise, which some people like. (I am undecided. In my younger 7.3L diesel days I liked it.) To accomplish this, you simply unplug the tube between the blow off valve and then intake, cap the "upstream" end, and leave the BOV open.
Some have suggested putting a filter over the BOV. Any good way of doing this? Since the valve is closed and air is literally blowing through it regularly, I cant imagine anything would make its way in there.
Anyway, if you want to see it, and hear the PSSHHHH, heres the video:
