Default Vertex 2" Levelling Kit.

Hi,

New guy here.

I own 2010 F150 SC 6.6.

Been a great truck 130000 kms and only thing iI ever fixed was Rotors, Calipers, and Brake pads front and back & 1 P.S hose.

I recently picked up a 2019 on Clearance( $20000 CAD off sticker price).

What I like about the ride.

It's quiet, I mean really quiet for a diesel.

It has full trailering with brakes and 3.55 locker.

It sips fuel it's 4x4 SC 6.6 and on highway it does 30 mpg calculated by computer and verified at fill up.

It gets around 22 around town.

Keep in mind those are Metric galllons so 4.54 liters

It's a Lariat with leather buckets, heated and cooled seats(so glad I got the cooled seats!!!).

It's Magma(which sometimes looks great but looks like crap if dirty).... with chrome(which I don't care for)

It doesn't have the B&O sound but I am going to add a powered low profile behind seat sub woofer and it's plenty loud enough.

The only option I wish it had was heated steering wheel.

I have a few gripes about the truck.

auto/stop start .... ridiculous feature I will live with it or maybe get behind dash and jumper it out?

The gear shifter should have had the "M" positition forward of the "D" as if your not watching sometimes you will shift to manual by mistake.

The diesel has a little Lag. So I might look into a pedal commander but will do some more research first.... definitely doesn't have same power as EB.

Now I am a Ford guy and looked at Chev GmC and Dodge....and all those have too small of tanks for my preference and the rear ends are mostly 3.23....so the only choice I had was ford or Chev 3.0 diesel (which is too new and untested for my liking).

My biggest single gripe is the ride.

I mean I am running 10 ply DuraTracs on my 2010....and the 2019 has GY Wrangler ATs and I bet if switched the tires the 2010 would be smoother than the 2019?

My tires are at 38-39 psi so I might try dropping to 36 psi today and for a ride.

Ford has really dropped the ball on these late model aluminum trucks IMHO.

I had ordered a 2.5" BDS levelling kit and rear 1" puck but after experiencing the ride I am going to use that kit on my 2010.

I didn't want to go hog wild on a Icon or BDS(fox) system so I took a risk and ordered a 2" Vertex Levelling Kit and front and rear.(rear is 0-3" actually)

I know many don't think too highly of R.C but they are way cheaper option than Icon, Fox, king etc.

I was thinking of running Duratrac 35x12.5"-18 D tires but I don't think those are gonna work with only a 2 " lift in front, and apparently the Vertex Coil overs are not designed to run with any spacer on top either.(not sure why).

So I think my next choice of tire will be Duratrac 285/75-18 E I am hoping the extra sidewall will give me a little cushion to soak up potholes?

These are same height tire but 1.3 " narrower which should be better for MPG.

Or should I try a 17" with 75 sidewall?(raptor style?)

I am just waiting to hear from Rough Country about Backspacing and wheel size recommendation but I am thinking a 12-20mm offset should work.

I am hoping to level the truck without maxing out the preload otherwise I might have taken the long road home to end up at the same place....lol.

Any insights or help would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of options for dealing with that, enjoy!

The same can happen if reversed, except, most people are going into Drive, and would have to make sure they move past Manual to get there. The only way to eliminate this is to install a separate switch for Manual.

In three years of ownership of my 2015, I've never accidentally gone past Drive into Manual. Drive has been the third detent in every automatic I've owned.

You know what they say about giving people what they really want. Longtime turbodiesel owners are used to lots of turbo lag. Take that away, they will think something is wrong.

Your new truck weighs as much as 700lb less than your old one, that alone guarantees a harsher ride with the same tires at the same pressure. Add to that the increased tow rating, changes to the suspension to reduce rollover events and towing oversteer...

Nothing wrong with Rough Country, they are a good product for the price. Not the best, not the cheapest.
