Default Verify Windshield Replacement

Looking at a pre-owned 2016 Lariat that has the rain-sensing wipers and lane departure. The CarFax says the windshield was replaced by the dealer that currently has it. That dealer is not a Ford dealer. They have been unable to verify the windshield was replaced with an original Ford SoundScreen that would keep the rain-sensing and lane departure intact. The vehicle is too far from me to verify in person. Anyone out there with experience in this predicament or any tips on how to verify via pictures from the dealer? Important to note again, this is not a Ford dealer. They are not well-versed in the F-150. Thanks in advance.

You don't need a Ford SoundScreen as a replacement to keep those functions working. They may need to be recalibrated, they may not. I'm on my second replacement windshield, both replaced by an independent glass shop, with aftermarket glass, and all my features still function the way they did when the truck was new.

No issues with your rain sensing wipers and your lane departure after replacement?

That is what I said in my post. My auto hi-lo beam works too. All you really need is a competent shop with the right equipment and training, and the right windshield. There are different windshields depending on the options you have. If, when you're phoning around to get estimates, and they don't ask you if you have lanekeeping and auto wipers etc, then hang up and call someone else.

My son works at the bodyshop of a Toyota dealership as a parts buyer. They replace a lot of windshields on customer Toyotas and offer OE or aftermarket glass as an option. He gets his aftermarket glass from the same place that replaced my glass.

As a matter of fact, I got a rock chip today on the freeway. I'll be taking the truck in for a chip repair on Monday. That will be the fifth repair on this windshield which is about 18 months old.

My last windshield, which looks like the OE, was CAD190.00 installed.

Have them take pictures of the glass, if it says Carlite on it, it is a OEM glass.
